This recipe is basically a big chocolate chip cookie cake with a mocha glaze crackle top. I used SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Baking Bits for the chocolate chips because they only add two grams of sugar without weird additives. Plus, they’re so delicious! You can get them at Walmart now, not an ad, just a big fan.
I made a recipe reel, which was fun I’d never done a full recipe before, you can see here. I like to still offer it in blog form and available to print because I’m an old lady who still likes to keep paper copies of recipes, so in case there are any others out there, this one is for you. Because I really want you to try this mocha topped chocolate chip cookie bars.
Cookie Bar ≫≫
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Cream butter and sugar well. Add eggs, then vanilla. Sift flour in separate bowl. Add baking powder and salt to flour, mix well. Stir dry ingredients to sugar mixture. Add chocolate. Spread into 13x15 inch pan.
Mocha Crackle Top ≫≫
1 egg white
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp finely ground coffee
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Beat egg white until stiff. Fold in brown sugar, coffee, and nuts (optional). Spread over dough. Bake at 325 degrees 30 to 35 minutes. Cut into squares when cool. Enjoy!
