I got my first Goodbeing box this week and I'm OBSESSED! Such a fun way to try new clean beauty products at an amazing price point. This week they're giving an extra goodie with any box you gift or purchase for yourself!
Every box will be different, even those delivered in the same month, because you get to choose a few of the products that go in the box. Some of these things I knew were coming and others were a surprise, that’s part of the fun!
I wanted to break down what I got and my thoughts on each item so far. I’ve never been a big subscription box person, I’ve gotten to try a few specialty boxes like this and this is by far my favorite, I definitely want to keep it going! It’s perfect timing too since I’m still trying to figure out my favorites in the clean beauty department and that can get expensive.
The December Goodbeing clean beauty box I received has $88 worth of product in it and the box retails for $24.95 per month. They say each box will have $45+ value. Goodbeing also has a lifestyle box, I had a really hard time choosing which box to go with because that one also includes beauty products along with supplements, superfoods, and non toxic living items. I love finding new holy grail clean living items!
Ok, let’s get into what I got this month…
Uniful Beauty Black Mascara - $22
I loooove this mascara! First the packaging has gorgeous silver sides and the mascara tube itself is sleek and black. The mascara makes my lashes look so long and full, one of my favorite mascaras I’ve tried in every category (clean and otherwise). This makes me want to try more of their products, I’ve heard good things about their concealer.
EDIT TO ADD: It’s now August and my mascara fell apart overnight, but that’s 9 months of use! Just looked it up and you’re supposed to toss mascara after 3 months. Whoops! I really did love this mascara though and would consider re-ordering. I have a few others I want to test before grabbing a repeat, but I’ll post my holy grail find on this comprehensive list.
MyChelle Dermaceuticals Incredible Pumpkin Peel - $28
I love all things pumpkin all year round, so of course I am excited about this mask! It had a surprisingly strong ginger smell, which I like and it only tingled a bit on my skin, although I don’t mind that since it means it’s working. All of these products are clean beauty, but this one is EWG verified which means it has amazing ingredients.
I’ll update this as I use it more, but the day after using it for the first time my skin feels amazing! So smooth and supple.
EDIT TO ADD: After months of use, I still love this mask and use it around twice per week. I put it on when I’m getting ready to hop in the shower and leave it on as I dry brush etc. Then I rinse once I’m in the shower. Feels great and still love the smell! Perfect for the cool fall months.
Bonnie Brightening Vitamin C + E Sheet Mask - $5
I love sheet masks and the packaging on this was so cute, but I am used to my sheet masks coming already spread out so the product is spread out as well. This came folded up to fit in the fun little packet and once I put it on I realized most of the serum had pooled at the bottom. The forehead wasn’t as juicy as it should have been and the chin was so full it was dripping on my chest and neck, but it felt really good and once I was finished I used my jade roller to evenly distribute the extra.
The day after trying this sheet mask my skin feels so hydrated and looks so dewy! I definitely think the only problem with this mask was user error or I let it set in the box upright too long instead of laying flat.
Bee Magical Bracelet - $15
I thought this was a cute little add-in, especially since we’re all about saving the bees in our house. Not really my style of jewelry, but it had a sweet message about hope and how their is magic inside the little bee and if it falls off it’s been set free. I thought it would be fun to see if it fell off around the time of some answered prayers. It broke off about 10 minutes of wearing it, so either I’m really rough on stuff or my wishes were already coming true. I think it will be fun to repurpose though and let Iris wear it, I’ll have to tie it smaller for her anyways.
Jivi Body Butter - $22
I have to be honest, this one was the biggest let down for me. This is partially my own fault because I was most excited to try this one so I built it up in my head. If you watched my last favorites video on youtube, you know I’ve been on the hunt for a non toxic body butter. I love all things chocolate and have had chocolate lotion before that I was obsessed with, so I was hoping this might be similar. I didn’t mind the smell, but Dave couldn’t stand it…and you kind of want your husband to like the scent of your body butter, right?
I tried it anyways and it’s near impossible to rub in. Even after I thought I got it all in, that evening after I’d been out at a Christmas party all day I undressed and when my arms were up I realized the back of my arms still had big globs. It’s skin colored too, so it looked like I had something wrong with me. Thank goodness I was wearing a long sleeved shirt!
I read somewhere that it works best on your feet, so I think I’ll stick to that. I do love that their products are so natural you can eat them and this one specifically is supposed to be good for sore muscles, so if you’re looking for that just know you’ll have to rub it in well. But if you have sore muscles that would feel good!
Summary…
In short, the things I am loving the most and will definitely repurchase are the Uniful Beauty Mascara and the MyChelle Pumpkin Peel Mask, a total of $50 in product for a $25 subscription box. Not bad!
Things I would like to try again are the Bonnie Sheet Mask and Bee Magical bracelet, I really enjoyed them both, but feel like my experience might have been off just this once. $20 worth of extra product that was fun to try.
The one thing I was completely let down by and will not be repurchasing again ever is the Jivi body butter. But I’d rather get it in a box like this where I got value elsewhere and I didn’t waste money trying it on my own. This just means I’m still on the hunt, so if you know of a non-toxic body butter with a pleasant smell (or even unscented, I’m ok with that!) that has a nice whipped texture like normal body butters, please let me know!
Have you tried Goodbeing before? I want to know about your experience! If you haven’t and you’d like to, now is the time to try or gift a box, you can choose an extra gift while they last.
